The scheduled maintenance is now underway. We'll keep you updated on our progress.

Scheduled

We will this evening have to carry out some emergency network maintenance on the London metro network.

There will inevitably be some instability of and changes to IP routing when links are taken in and out of service but we will steer traffic away from each link before it is shut down for maintenance which should minimise the impact.

This maintenance will involve a series of 3 short (30s) periods of disruption as links are taken out of and put back into service, one at a time. Whilst these redundant links are out of service the network will be at risk of further disruption if a second link should fail at the same time.

We expect this work to be completed before midnight, but it may take until 2am.

Please accept our apologies for the short notice given for this critical work.

We will shortly be scheduling a major network maintenance to take place in a month or so for us to cut over to our new MPLS-enabled core which will make any future maintenance of this nature almost entirely invisible. This upgrade project will also largely if not wholly eliminate our susceptibility to fibre events that cause repeated disruption of a link, further improving the resilience and reliability of our network whilst enabling new services to be supported across our network.
